Our discovery of the Rocky Mountain Horse occurred in 1998. After much research and visiting numerous Rocky Mountain horse farms, our first Rockies arrived in 2000 at Cedar Grove Farm in Vermont. We are now in our nineteenth year breeding, raising, training, and selling these remarkable horses. Many of our horses are also registered as Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horses and several are also registered as Mountain Pleasure Horses. As of August 2018 we have 9 Rocky Mountain horses.
The goal of our Rocky Mountain Horse farm is to preserve the characteristics of this wonderful, gentle, smooth-gaited breed through limited and selective breeding of exceptional stock to produce top quality Rocky Mountain horses. Training starts with imprinting our foals (click to see all the latest photos) at birth (see a video of the live birth of one of our foals) and continues with natural horsemanship methods of ground training and under saddle training. We only have a few foals each year so we have the luxury of being able to give each of them personal hands-on training over several years. As a result, our horses are well trained, experienced trail horses and wonderful companions. All of our Rocky Mountain Horses for sale were born here at our farm, imprinted at birth, and handled daily until two years of age.
The inherent four beat gait of the Rocky Mountain Horse has made it one of the top choices for a pleasurable trail ride. Once you "Ride the Glide" you will not settle for anything else. The four beat lateral gait of our mountain horses combined with their personal extensive ground work training, trail experience, and exposure to an active, functioning farm with all the associated animals and equipment, results in a calm, confident, willing, trusting, predictable, and trustworthy, smooth riding partner for life.

This twelve year old, black (EE), certified (RMHA, KMSHA) mare is now offered for sale. She has had three foals, all chocolate colts. She has been in training this season and trail ridden 4-5 days a week. She is offered for sale because we are selling our farm to retire (again) and no longer breeding. She is a very naturally gaited mare. She is the last foal sired by Toco Sam (by Sewell's Sam by Tobe) and out of Nicole (by Jock by Son of Yankee by Yankee). This is a great pedigree for any breeding program and she is also a seasoned under saddle mare best suited for an intermediate rider. She is a very well mannered Rocky but likes to "go" in the arena but can be ridden "on the buckle" on the trail. CGF Toco's Last Dance, aka "Dancer", is priced at $6000. Videos of her are posted on our Cedar Grove Farm Facebook page.
